1.
Here in this global village of voyeurs inverted - in contiguous prostration - the gaze is deflected (ensuring all are present for inspection). You are subject (instant validation), you are object (incessant judgment). Encroaching anonymity staved off by virtual panopticon. Surrounded we wait with alacrity: total accomplishment, total control; total surveillance, total control. Credits: M. Foucault - "Discipline & Punish" P. Virilio - "The Information Bomb"
2.
"So like us," you admit, with palms against the glass. As a temporary compromise - with a condescending tolerance - you'll reduce ideology of "the other" into harmless idiosyncrasy while keeping sameness as prerequisite for respect (until objections are raised). Then you'll ponder how conflict could arise - "Oh, the puerility of the accuser!" Now "we are all the same," you insist, integrating all difference into your insipid vision of globalized emptiness and decrepit universals. How gracious of you to absolve difference and distance into harmless idiosyncrasy (and thus extend begrudging acceptance to your self-imposed contorted mirror image). But look too close and shaky foundations crumble under insecurity. Fearful eyes desiccate under the strain. Credits: A. Lorde - "Sister Outsider" b. hooks - "Black Looks"
